Rebuild Hope encourages amateur runners, cyclists and triathletes to raise funds for Rebuild Hope families whenever they participate in events not staged by another nonprofit. Rebuild Hope will recognize you, your fund-raising efforts and your race performance on our web site (see example below), and support your fund-raising by making our online payment system available to your donors and displaying your progress.

Congratulations, Leslie!

On Sunday, October 11th, 2009, I will be running the 26.2 miles of the Wine Country Marathon. But instead of just counting my miles, I have decided to make my miles count, and run in honor of our American Veterans. Although the Healdsberg Wine Country Marathon is not an organized fundraiser, I have decided to raise $2620 for Rebuild Hope as part of my marathon experience.

Often when I run, I am inspired by the thousands of American soldiers who sacrifice so much for our country. I am motivated by their strength and endurance in the face of injury, stress, discomfort, and heartache. Many soldiers returning from service in Iraq or Afghanistan suffer from severe physical, mental, and emotional injuries. These individuals and their families face daily challenges as they work toward rebuilding a civilian life. Training for a marathon takes dedication, physical and mental strength, and endurance. I am driven and motivated by the perseverance of these Veterans who have returned forever impacted by war. They have not given up, and with the strength of their families, friends, and a country who supports them, will rebuild a better life. I am so blessed that I have the opportunity to run these 26.2 miles. Running in honor of our current American Veterans strengthens me to keep going and to not give up. To never, ever give up.
