"After serving in Afghanistan for a year, Chris was injured during his first tour in Iraq. At the time his wife Laura was 5 months pregnant. While Chris remained in a coma for almost 2 months he regained consciousness and was present at the birth of his first child, Elizabeth Rose."

| Current Situation: | Chris has participated in a variety of therapeutic programs in the Polytrauma Rehabilitation Program program at the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital. From July 2007 until April 2008 the entire family lived in an a modest rented apartment within driving distance of this facility paying rent out of their own funds. At the same time the Carvers continued to carry the financial burden of a mortgage on their first home which was purchased just prior to Chris's unexpected tour in Iraq. The requested financial assistance will reimburse them for three months of rent. |
