When you select the "Donate Now" button within an specific beneficiary profile you are indicating how you prefer Rebuild Hope to distribute your donation. However, the ultimate distribution decision is retained by Rebuild Hope. This treatment is neccessary to preserve a gifts eligibility for a tax deduction.
Type 2: You direct a donation to a beneficiary
With this type of donation Rebuild Hope will distribute your gift to the specific beneficiary you choose and according to the IRS this type of donation is NOT eligible for a tax deduction. You make a Type 2 donation the same way as a Type 1 AND then either send us an email stating your requirement that Rebuild Hope distribute your donation to this beneficiary or indicate this on your check. Otherwise, Rebuild Hope will assume you are simply advising us.
Type 3: You ask Rebuild Hope to select a beneficiary
Reasons you might select this option:
- You might simply be a bit overwhelmed with the task of selecting an individual member from our community of worthy beneficiaries.
- Some military families do not want to publicize their need for assistance so they are not displayed on our website. We want you to help them as well.
- Rebuild Hope frequently receives requests for immediate one-time emergency assistance. Undirected donations can be used in these situations.
Type 4: You help fund Rebuild Hope's operations
Although the Rebuild Hope team currently consists entirely of volunteers and we distribute 100% of all Type 1, 2, and 3 donations, funds are still required to support our operations. For example, we incur transaction fees on credit card-based donations and we will continually expand our services, improve our website and implement innovative marketing programs to attract more donors, applicants, sponsors, etc.
Donation Size & Frequency
While each individual donation should be for $25.00 or more, donors can...
- Make a one-time gift to one or more beneficiaries
- Make multiple donations over time to one or more beneficiaries
- Make a donation to fund Rebuild Hope operations at any time
