| Current Situation: |
"After 15 years of military service I was improperly discharged by the Army, a decision I expect will be overturned this year after a long legal battle. With my multiple medical conditions, strict restrictions from medical docs tors, and 11-13 different medications for pain and mental conditions, it is very difficult for me to work and enjoy life like I used to.
My son and I lost our home and all belongings about a month ago and have relocated to Texas to be closer to family and their support. We are starting from scratch and need assistance to obtain housing and pay for the essentials, e.g., rent, rent deposit, utilities and deposit, clothing, food, gas, etc. I receive a modest disability income from the VA and Social Security and expect a substantial amoumt of active duty back pay from the military this fall along with the reactivation of the formal medical retirement process by the Army. It is difficult for me to maintain a smile and a positive outlook for my son when there is so much for me to do to get my son a home of his own, but I am committed to a creating stable home and life for us both. I have requested a grant and loan from Rebuild Hope and expect to repay the latter when I receive my back pay." |
