Who you can help - the Plaza Family

U.S. Army SSG Jeff Plaza (Veteran)

SSG Plaza was injured when his vehicle was rolled with him in the turret while on a mission outside Ballad. He was also in some close IED strikes that rang his bell and contributed to his brain condition.

Home: Mountain View, California
Injury: Service-connected disabilities include mTBI aggravated condition, bi-lateral ankle injury, mild PTSD.Current medical treatment: brain surgery, physical therapy, and counseling.
Last Military Assignment: 324th PSYOP Company
Immediate Family: wife and three young children.
Personal Interests: "Raising my twins and our son. I love to cook, garden, take on big projects in our church, and to overcome challenging projects in the workplace."
Current Situation: "I have been deployed from Bosnia to Iraq over my career. My last term of Active duty was during my recovery in the Warrior Transition Battalion. My time in Iraq in the Diyala Province was dangerous yet fulfilling. I never had any major medical conditions until my tour in Iraq. I was later diagnosed with a bleed on my right temporal lobe. The military transition process and a sudden change in my income while I continue with my recovery has directly impacted our situation. I expect it will take me a few months to get a job in my field. I am volunteering to stay current. I have requested public assistance through Santa Clara County and hope to get a grant from the Mountain View Los Altos community services to help us through the next couple months as I volunteer and pursue opportunities recommended by the EDD. We have cut back on our spending, applied for food stamps, and are waiting on a VA claim. Assistance from Rebuild Hope will cover one-month of rent before other aide kicks in."

Current Requests: Need: $750 (rent) Received: $650 Unmet Need: $100
