Former U.S. Marine Sergeant & Army Staff Sergeant Ken Phillips (Veteran)
| Home: | Yonkers, New York |
| Service-Connected Disability: | Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, Chronic Back Injury, Plastic Surgery to Right Arm. |
| Operations: | Iraqi Freedom |
| Last Military Assignment: | Military Police, Abu Gharaib Prison, Baghdad, Iraq |
| Immediate Family: | Fiance and two children |
| Personal Interests: | I volunteer at East Coast Assistance Dogs whenever I can to help educate other Veterans and Civilians that have Physical or Mental disabilities, in which I also assist in training them to become Service Dogs. I love animals anyway, so I find this to be a great cause. I have my own personal Service Dog "Zeus" who has helped me tremendously with my disabilities, so I'm living proof, and I want to spread the cause. I love to spend time with my fiance and two children. When ever possible I like to take long drives; these help me calms my nerves. I also enjoy tossing the ball around with my dog, watching movies, and playing video games. |
| Current Situation: | 2010 was a very rough year for Ken and his family. There was a divorce with a custody battle and legal expenses. Transportation expenses for his children and his VA therapy added up and when his car was towed he paid a large fee to get it back. When his car was repossessed, Ken relied mostly on taxis as public transportation would not always accept his helper dog. And last summer he incurred moving expenses. He needs help with one-months rent and utilities. |
| Current Requests: | Need: $1500 | Received: $1500 | Unmet Need: $0 |
