Who you can help - the Christy Family

Army Sgt. Ryan Christy (Veteran)

"Ryan was severely injured when his tank was struck multiple times by explosives during his tours in Iraq."

Home: Georgetown, Texas
Injury: Service-connected disabilities include spinal injury, traumatic brain injury, posttraumatic stress disorder, and migraines.
Operations: Iraqi Freedom (2 Tours)
Last Military Assignment: 3rd Infantry Division, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Platoon (Fort Benning, GA)
Immediate Family: Son and daughter, both under age of 10
Personal Interests: "Raising my children, fishing, painting and music."
Current Situation: After serving eight years in the Army - including two tours in Iraq, Ryan was medically discharged in May 2006 and promptly filed for merited, service-connected disability compensation from the Veterans Administration. After more than two years and five appeals his rating was finally raised from 30% to 100%. His multiple medical problems will continue to require on-going treatments. Unfortunately, during this time Ryan has struggled to make ends meet. He has pawned possessions, eliminated all discretionary spending and reluctantly accepted personal loans from family members. He expects to receive social security disability benefits in about six months and then his total income will cover his basic living expenses. Rebuild Hope has created a 12-month budget for Ryan and counseled him on dealing with his debt obligations. Now Rebuild Hope aims to contribute monthly grants to help him cover his living expenses until his social security benefits start.

Current Requests: Need: $1800(basic living expenses for 6 month) Received: $200 Unmet Need: $1600 Donate
