Sources Of Emergency Financial Assistance
Rebuild Hope always encourages applicants to contact other organizations that offer emergency financial assistance whenever they apply to Rebuild Hope as one should never assume that Rebuild Hope can or will help. We regularly refer veterans to ones we believe are potentially a good match.
In January 2011 Rebuild Hope launched an on-going effort to identify and profile organizations that provided emergency financial assistance to disabled OIF/OEF veterans plus the men and women in warrior transition units who are on paths to a medical discharged. The objective: to make it easier for them and their families find organizations who might actually help them.

Brief History
This project was introduced to a small number of organizations in early 2011.
(Initial email - January 2011) As the president/founder of the national nonprofit Rebuild Hope, like you, I am committed to helping the families of OIF/OEF veterans who bear severe wounds from their service to our country. And like your organization Rebuild Hope provides emergency grants to those who are struggling to establish healthy and stable civilian lives. I am contacting you today because we often receive requests from veterans who do not meet our particular eligibility requirements and Rebuild Hope would like to refer them to organizations that appear more suitable. To do this I am contacting organizations that provide emergency financial assistance to OIF/OEF veterans to ask you to share relevant information so we can all help more veterans and their families, and shorten their frustrating search for help.
I have enclosed a document that highlights key elements of Rebuild Hope's application process and ask you to provide the same type of information using the Excel worksheet. Once I have collected this information I will share it with all participating organizations.
This information is intended to be used for referral purposes only. Ultimately only your organization can determine what help, if any, you can provide to a specific veteran.
I have asked eight organizations for this information. And subsequently discovered Impact Player Partners and included them. They are The Coalition To Salute American Heroes, Fallen Patriots Fund, Impact Player Partners, Operation Family Fund, Operation Homefront, Operation Second Chance, Unmet Needs (VFW), USA Cares, and USATogether.
Also, please tell me if I have omitted any nonprofit you feel should be included.
I hope you will join me in coordinating our efforts. Thank you for considering my request.

(Subsequent Message - February 2011) This is a follow-up message to my Jan 27 e-mail. Several people have asked me how we would use the info I requested we share.
Here are my thoughts:
- All the contact info is for our use only and Rebuild Hope (RH) would not be share yours with any veteran who contacts us.
- Nor would RH disclose info about the amount of support that might be available.
- Rebuild Hope already provides a selective list of veterans resources on our web site at http://rebuildhope.org/resources_beneficiaries.php.
- We would include a brief profile of your organization, your eligibility criteria and a link to your website.
If you have any questions, simply ask. I look forward to receiving your responses and to working with you.
(Subsequent Message - August 2011) Operation Homefront information added to this resource list - Thanks, Michael (Senior Client Services Manager)!
